Bio:

It is my pleasure to serve as the School City of Hobart’s (SCOH) Director of Secondary Curriculum. Like my parents, I was born and raised in Hobart before graduating from Hobart High School (HHS). Growing up, my parents underscored the significance of remembering, “If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well.” To this day, I am steadfast in this infinite pursuit of fulfilling my responsibilities with fidelity and approach opportunities with passion. Currently, I teach out GENS 279 Capstone course, which all graduating seniors who are on track to earn an Associate's Degree complete.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from Valparaiso University, I taught a number of courses at HHS, including Advanced Placement (AP) Dual Credit (DC), SAT Prep, and other courses. Furthermore, I served as the English Department Chair at HHS. While in college and during my tenure as a teacher, I also assisted as an athletics coach, club sponsor, and academic team coach. I earned my Master of Arts from Purdue University Northwest before becoming the Director of College and Careers for the SCOH in 2017.

Most recently, I earned my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University. At present, I serve as the SCOH’s Director of Secondary Curriculum. In this role, I work alongside the staff, students, community, and higher education partners/stakeholders in cultivating a nurturing environment whereby our passions, purpose, and possibilities merge as we learn from the past, embrace the present, and equip ourselves with lifelong 21st-century skills necessary for college, career, and life readiness. Through our endorsed Early College, Hobart University, we continue building on our robust course offerings, programs, and pathways to make sure all Brickies thrive!

I am passionate about instructional design, curriculum development, pedagogy, educational technology, grant writing, differentiation, tiered systems of support, data analytics, motivational theory, mentorship, and a sundry of other related fields. Such fields stimulate a nurturing environment whereby staff and students communally merge their passions, purpose, and possibilities as a means of equipping our Brickies for college, career, and life readiness. I love to read, write, take long walks, and am known for being a big-time college football fan ask me about it sometime!

Quite a few of my family members also serve in public education, including my wife, Brittney who is the Dean of Students at Liberty Elementary School. We love being Brickies. Like many of you, we emblematically bleed purple and gold! All my life, I’ve wanted to be a Brickie. What an honor to work, work, work in providing our staff and students with the best possible educational opportunities and experiences available in the state of Indiana and the nation at large.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called present.”
