Location: Terre Haute
Roles: Staff, Faculty
Title: Professor of Social Sciences, Program Chair
Building/Room Number: H116C
Bio:

I have dedicated my academic and professional life to learning about humanity (culture, history, education, politics, group behavior, and economics) and passing knowledge on to my students. I strive to help all students reach their educational goals, as I am a living example of how education can drastically improve lives despite struggles.

I began college as a non-traditional, first-generation student at an open-admissions institution and worked my way to earning a PhD at a top-tier public research university, followed by a very rewarding career as a college professor. I'm a recipient of Ivy Tech Community College's President's Award for Excellence in Instruction, Carroll Shaver Student Advocacy Award, Spirit of Diversity Award, and National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award.

I serve as a Professor and Program Chair of Social Science. I have a Ph.D. in educational studies with a specialization in cultural studies in education, a master’s in sociology, a master's in history, a bachelor's degree in history, and a bachelor's degree in social science. I'm also finishing an additional MBA. I teach classes in history, political science, and sociology, and am a presenter at national conferences in different fields. I have authored books, presentations, and other works on a variety of topics.
