I have been at Ivy Tech Bloomington for 25 years.  I was the first program chair of Early Childhood Education, which was the only program we offered in Education until 2009 when we started Elementary Education and now we also have Secondary Education in Biology, Chemistry and Math. Before coming to Ivy Tech, I operated my own child care home business for 22 years in Bloomington.  Before that, I was an elementary and kindergarten public school teacher. I went to Indiana University for my bachelor's and master's degrees.  

I have loved working with children all my life and my husband and I have raised two of our own and now have 4 grandchildren.  Understanding where a person has been will often help understand why they think and act the way they do and how you can help their development while they are a child or as an adult.  Psychology has always interested me and anthropology, which are related fields to the study of human development.  

I love animals, especially dogs. I love music and oldies rock and roll and Dave Matthews Band.  Music is good for stressful times and I also enjoy it when I read and grade papers.  Working with others who want to be teachers is the most fascinating job I have ever had - learning and growing with others who love children, too and supporting their journeys to become fully employed in education. I have never regretted my decision to teach. It is a career of joys - I would love to support you in any way I can, for you to become a supporter of children and families in whatever way you decide.  Ivy Tech is such a great place to start!  We get you out there, observing and helping children from the start and will stay connected as you go from one semester to another, getting always closer to your heart's desire.  Come see us!
