| Bio: |
For two years, I taught in a 3-5-year-old Head Start classroom. I have loved it! I have also taught introductory psychology, human sexuality, and lifespan at Ivy Tech Community College for a total of 7 years. I am now ready to return to higher education to teach BIG humans and work as an Academic Support Associate Part-Time. I sat in on an abnormal psychology class and feel prepared to teach that too. I have taken many online classes, and I have taught for Ivy Tech online, in addition to my face-to-face and dual credit courses.
I finished my MS program in psychology at Walden University in February of 2008. I also have a BA in sociology from California State University, Sacramento. I have spent the last 12 years working with children and children’s literature. My thesis topic and continued interest are the relationship between joint picture book reading and the socioemotional development of preschool-age children, with a focus on social learning theory and mediated learning theory. I am interested in literacy development for all ages and working to help teens and young adults become lifelong learners. I would love to find additional rewarding work that would allow me to grow professionally and personally while following my interests.
My broad experience with children includes Storytime programming, teen crisis counseling, coaching (ages 6-18), and preschool. This broad background has supplied me with ample experience and many skills to offer a prospective employer. I have management, library reference, computer, volunteer coordination, event coordination, and program planning experience.
