Bio: | I was raised with three brothers in a rural area near Logansport, Indiana and attended Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences degree in 1974. I attended the IU School of Medicine from 1973-76 and the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) from 1977-78 where I earned a Master of Science in Environmental Science degree in 1978. Upon graduation I began working with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as a hydrologist. In 1984, while working with the USGS, I began attending the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign as a part-time graduate student, and in 1987 earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree. I continued to work with the USGS in Colorado, California and ultimately, Indiana (since 2013) as a research hydrologist where I focused on hydrogeologic research. After 40+ years I retired from the USGS in 2019 and have since served as a volunteer USGS Scientist Emeritus. In 2021 I received the USGS Dallas Peck Outstanding Scientist Emeritus Award. In May 2022, I joined the Ivy Tech, Bloomington adjunct faculty in the School of Arts, Sciences, & Education. I teach courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and Earth Science. I live near Bloomington with my partner, Sharon (Clinical Social Work/Therapist) and our grandson. We enjoy caretaking our property, volunteering and visiting family and friends throughout the country. |
