Name: Leanne Short
Location: Bloomington
Roles: Staff, Faculty
Title: Assistant Professor of Optometric Technology, Program Chair
Building/Room Number: C217
Bio:

Leanne graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a Certificate in Opticianry/Optometric Technology. She worked in an Optometry office in Indianapolis prior to starting with Ivy Tech in 2017 as Program Chair of Optometric Technology. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Vision Science Degree through the IU School of Optometry.

The Optometric Technology Program is a great way for students to enter the healthcare field in as little as 9 months, working with Eye Doctors to promote eye and vision health. The Program offers a Technical Certificate (TC) - which is earned after 2 semesters, as well as an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) that usually takes an additional 2 semesters to complete.

In her "spare" time, Leanne is kept very busy by her twin 4 year olds, Maren and Maddox!

Most of the courses in the OPTI curriculum are 50% Lecture and 50% Lab. During Lecture, students learn concepts and collaborate with one another to solidify concpets. In Lab, students apply skills hands-on in the fully-equipped OPTI lab.

The best way to reach Leanne is through her Google Voice phone number: 317-868-2670 or by email: cshort50@ivytech.edu since she spends much of her time off campus right now, teaching and working virtually.
