I teach a program for Ivy Tech & Parke & Vermillion counties at Riverton Parke High School. This program is offered to Junior & Senior high school students. The program covers beginning Computer Repair, Networking, Server Technology, Network & System Security, Web Design & Visual Basic Programming. Students can take the program for one or two years. They receive high school & Ivy Tech college credits. If a student is successful in completing the two year program he or she can graduate with 30 Ivy Tech College credits (one year of College). A number of students now have graduated High School and through the efforts of this program have obtain their A+, Network+, & Server+ certifications. Many of these students have continued on to take on two and four year college degrees. However, many of these students have obtain jobs in the IT field straight out of High School. The program offers a great head start into a high tech career! My personal background: I worked as a senior R&D technician for two fortune 500 companies, a television engineer for WTHI, & a ground radio technician in the United States Air Force, this spanned over thirty years. I have a BS in Information Technology and an AAS degree in Communication Electronics & I'm certificated in A+, Network+, Server+, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 7, C++ Programming, Web Design, and have a certification in Fiber Optic Technology. |
