Bio:

Dr. Colleen L. Gabauer is adjunct professor in Ivy Tech’s Academic Skills Department. Formerly, she was the Senior Managing Director of the Office of Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs in The Purdue University Graduate School and courtesy faculty in both the College of Agriculture and the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University. She managed strategic efforts involving the administration and creation of interdisciplinary graduate programs. 

Dr. Gabauer is dedicated to social justice education, and hosted both graduate and undergraduate seminar series at Purdue University, to engage both students and faculty in this area. She has presented nationally on this topic, most specifically, as it relates to recruitment, retention, inclusion, and mentoring in higher education. She conducts research in these areas and has taught Purdue University courses including Interdisciplinary Scientific Communication, Independent Study in US Higher Education Administration, and Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Social Justice and Inclusion. Dr. Gabauer has also taught writing courses at Monroe Community College in New York and Duquesne University in Pennsylvania.

From 2008-2018, Dr. Gabauer managed a pre-doctoral training program with the Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), a statewide collaboration of Indiana University, Purdue University, and University of Notre Dame. The Indiana CTSI is a member of a national network of 61 CTSA-funded organizations, affiliated with the NIH. Dr. Gabauer has presented at numerous workshops, panels, and conferences, including the American Evaluation Association, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals, Translational Science, and others. 

Dr. Gabauer is the past president and founder of the Midwestern Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals. She also served on a number of committees with the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals, including co-chair of the NAGAP Mentoring Program and as appointee to the board of directors as Chair of National and International Chapters.
