Bio:

Currently, I am teaching as an Adjunct Instructor for Ivy Tech Community College. I have been with the school since the spring semester of 2016 and it has been great. Anatomy & Physiology I and II are the main courses I lead. In the past, I have also taught Exercise Science, Nutrition, and Introduction to Health Careers.

In addition to teaching for the college, I work full-time. I am a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) for Fort Wayne Pediatrics. I am also their Community Outreach Coordinator. My past work history includes a variety of healthcare experience! I spent 6 years in EMS working as an Advanced EMT. I have worked in the hospital environment as a Patient Care Technician at the Parkview Family Birthing Center and as a Phlebotomist for Parkview. I currently hold my NASM Certified Personal Trainer certification as well. I have worked as a trainer for Catalyst Fitness and as a Wellness Specialist for IPFW. I also teach a Certified Personal Trainer course for W.I.T.S. in my spare time.

My educational background includes a B.S. in Kinesiology from Penn State University. WE ARE.....PENN STATE! I earned my M.S. in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania. I am fascinated with the human body and all it can do. I enjoy fitness and healthy lifestyles. And I am curious about the medical field and how it can help what our body can naturally do!

Most importantly, I love teaching! I love the challenge it is. There may be the misconception that college is about the instructor teaching the students; however, I view it as an opportunity for the students to engage in ways that allow them to think critically and problem solve while I foster an atmosphere of personal development. Teaching is more than just learning definitions and passing exams. It is preparing the students for real-life with real skills that can transcend through any situation they will be presented with.
